Fresh Snow & XC Ski Trails in National Parks across Canada

Skiing -- Closed for Winter?

Losing 600 Parks Canada jobs and $29 million shows as snow season begins.

If there's one thing to bring Canadian skiers together from BC to Newfoundland, this could be it.  Federal cuts to Parks Canada in last April's budget mean no cross-country ski trails will be groomed in most national parks across Canada this winter.  It's the tip of the iceberg as massive cuts impact the functions of Parks Canada.

And that Visitor Centre in Field, BC, that served so many stranded motorists caught on the Trans Canada Highway during avalanche closures in Kicking Horse Pass?  It's closed for winter too.
