DIRECTIONS WEST: Third Biennial Western Canadian Studies Conference
University of Calgary
June 21-23, 2012
This week we're at University of Calgary for a conference hosted by the wonderful folks in the Department of History. Our research presentations will include recent urban history projects about recreational spaces in Banff and Edmonton. Come join us:
PearlAnn Reichwein and Karen Wall, "Modernism and Urban Spatialization in the Canadian Rockies: Postwar Landscapes of the Banff School of Fine Arts, 1945-1955." The Eleanor Luxton Panel on Mountains and Landscapes in Banff.
Paulina Retamales and PearlAnn Reichwen, "'A Happy Contented Band': The Edmonton Gyro Playground Movement and Urban Social Reform, 1920-1940."
Tonight we heard the T. Buckley Band playing at the Rozsa Centre at U of C. Mr. Buckley is a history graduate with a BA from U of C. Check it out for fine western music. Directions West is going strong for two more days at the Rozsa Centre.
